You need to get an mp4/m4a to mp3 converter. Also, never buy music from iTunes.

What converter do you recommend?

and LOL@buying music. silly, Shane. i did no such thing. my BIL downloaded the Incubus album for me and i’ve been listening to it in my car but wanted it on my computer so i imported the music files to itunes so i can have it on my ipad, too. so that’s how they came to be mpeg files.

MP3s are MPEG, too. MPEG Layer 3 to be exact. Anyhoo, all nerdery aside: If they’re just straight mp4 files that iTunes auto-converted when you imported, it’s a lot easier. I like to use MediaMonkey to manage my liberry, and it should re-convert for you. When you BUY iTunes music, it comes down as DRMed mp4 files, which you actually need to get a decrypter to convert. I haven’t used iTunes in years, so I don’t remember what program I used to do that with; you’ll have to google for it.
